When Red’s All Natural wanted to add riced cauliflower bowls to their line, an opportunity to perform a “pull and plug” materialized at the right moment. With only eight weeks to conceptualize, develop and launch a new line, the challenge was on. While Red’s All Natural was known for its wholesome frozen burritos and burrito bowls, the brand wanted to expand its frozen foods product line by tapping into the riced cauliflower trend. Our Solution
To develop these trending riced cauliflower bowl entrees, we conducted a competitive analysis of the natural frozen single-serve meal in contemporary trend-forward territories to explore. Once we determined the target flavor profiles with this research and collaborated with the brand, we composed a design brief. To fully utilize Red’s All Natural’s existing sourcing, we optimized ingredient sourcing to complement their current workflow to expedite timing and maintain cost parameters.
With this research and sourcing, we were able to develop three riced cauliflower bowl prototypes that were developed in collaboration with the brand to meet strict nutritional guidelines and cost targets while still delivering bold, on-trend global flavors.
Final Results
As a result of the research, sourcing, and product development, Red’s All Natural was able to launch its Chicken, Cilantro and Lime, Chicken Teriyaki, and Chicken Tikka Masala Riced Cauliflower entrees within eight weeks of project kickoff. This accelerated launch increased the brand’s market share in the frozen aisle with these gluten-free, high protein, and a convenient trio of ready-to-eat meals.

Fully leveraging their existing resources, we were able to launch within 8 weeks and help Red’s All Natural make a significant impact in the frozen aisle.
